The documentation of your wedding celebration shouldn’t be left to well-meaning amateurs. The results should become cherished mementos, not out-of-focus disappointments. To make sure you get a professional photographer, you need to research them and then interview. Not sure what questions to ask a wedding photographer that you’re interested in? Here is a list of questions to ask, and answers provided by ART PHOTO, INC.
Interview Questions for Wedding Photographers
- Do you specialize in wedding photography, and do you have a portfolio that I can view?
- Do you take formal portraits, candids or photojournalistic shots? Are you able to mix photography styles?
- We mix both styles depending on the couple’s desire.
- Which are you most comfortable with - color or black & white?
- Both. We love photography that includes mixtures of color, b&w, burnished sepia, colorized b&w, antique colorizations and other creative techniques. Tell us what you like during your pre-wedding consultation.
- Will you shoot our wedding by yourself or with assistance?
- We shoot weddings together, allowing us to capture those special moments from different vantages.
- What kind of preset packages do you have?
- Packages range from $750 to $2000
- What other photography services do you offer?
- Bridal portraits, Engagement sessions, In Studio or On Location. Custom Album Design. Professional Retouching. Prints. Wall portraits. Framing. Canvas.
- What photo album styles do you have available, and what are the costs?
- Our best photo albums are custom designed, seamless panoramic page layouts with custom covers, starting at $750. We also offer custom designed wedding books starting at $250. Clients save money when purchasing a package with their album.
- Will your photography equipment shoot at any levels of light?
- Yes. Many wedding officiants restrict the use of flash during the ceremony. Our equipment is able to correctly expose photographs in low light situations without a flash.
- How long will you be at the wedding ceremony and reception?
- We cover most weddings with pre-ceremony (getting ready) photos, complete ceremony and reception.
- Do you charge a fee for travel, and is there an extra charge to go to a third location?
- No if within 60 miles of downtown Jacksonville, FL.
- If there’s a planned delay between the wedding and reception, do you add additional charges?
- Each package includes a predetermined amount of coverage time. If this time is exceeded, charges are $100 per hour.
- How many photos or rolls of film will you shoot?
- We normally shoot at least 1000 digital photos per wedding.
- What sizes of prints do you offer? What’s the cost breakdown for each?
- Our print sizes range from 30x40 wall portraits to wallet sized photos. Costs depend on the package purchased.
- Can you retouch images if necessary, and what technology do you use to do that?
- All images are corrected for color and exposure, ready to print. Images selected for use in albums or prints are professionally retouched by a facial retouching artist. Photos are digitally retouched with Adobe Photoshop and/or Lightroom. All packages include artistically enhanced photographs - original artwork of your wedding.
- What other digital services do you offer?
- CD / DVD images, Storybook DVD shows. Online viewing and proofing.
- Do you offer Internet services like online proofing?
- Yes. All packages include online viewing. Album packages include online proofing.
- Is there a minimum order requirement for prints or reprints?
- There is no minimum order requirement for prints or reprints.
- How much do you charge for photograph reprints?
- Cost is dependant upon size
- Do you keep the negatives and, if so, for how long?
- Digital files are kept for 1 year
- Are we able to purchase the negatives?
- Digital images are included in all packages
- How long after the wedding day will we get delivery?
- Our goal is have all images ready for proofing and burned on CD / DVD within 1 week of the wedding. Albums take 2 weeks after design is complete.
- By what date should we book your services?
- As soon as possible, current bookings are up to 6 months out.
- How much is the deposit, and when is it due?
- The deposit is 50% and is due when reserving your wedding date.
- How much is the balance, and when is it due?
- The balance is due 2 weeks before the day of the wedding.
- What is your cancellation policy and are there penalties?
- Wedding cancellations forfeit the initial deposit. Postponements are handled on an individual basis.
